My Process

My work is fully custom: I specialize in drawing and painting on you, in-person to ensure your design flows with your body. I enjoy a collaborative process, and value your feedback! I will always be checking in with you during all steps of our process to hear your thoughts.

Blackout and Coverups

If you choose to get blackout make sure you vet the tattoo artist. Check for healed examples of previous work. Blackout can look great when fresh, but inexperienced tattoo artists can damage the skin, causing scarring and fallout. Excessively working the skin can damage the skin, leading to an increased chance of infection and a longer recovery time. I have seen and repaired many botched blackouts. It’s unfortunately very common for artists to say they can do blackout, but they lack the experience and technique to pull it off.

A lot of what I do is rework and coverups. I’m happy to do this for you, but you should be aware that you will be able to see some skin imperfections like scars through the black. Shiny, textured/previously-damaged areas will still be visible even though the old tattoo is covered up.

On that note, I can also fix old or subpar blackout but just know that it will never be perfect. Imagine trying to get a nice even coat of paint on a wall with an uneven/patchy primer. I can make it look a lot better, but depending on the prior condition it may not be as consistent as you imagine.

Blackout is painful. It is an intense application that you need to be prepared for.

  • Be rested, well fed and not hungover.

  • Please refrain from numbing products. They affect the surface of the skin complicating application. They can also cause rashes and weird reactions.

Design Fee

Most of my work is freehand. However, if you would like to see a sketch beforehand, I charge a nonrefundable design fee starting at $250.00. We can discuss specifics during the consultation. I often spend hours working on designs in advance, so think of it like commissioning art. I can do a few edits and a full revision before I may request more for added time spent, but this rarely is needed. The design is yours to keep no matter what you do with it. Keep in mind I will always need to adjust the design a bit to flow with your body, since the design is 2D and you are 3D. My work is custom from start to finish, and some tattoo details don’t translate digitally, but the sketches can help you get a sense of where I’m headed for the final project.

Tattoo Apointment deposit

I take a $300 deposit for a tattoo appointment; not including touch ups. This deposit goes towards your total tattoo cost. If you need to reschedule your appointment, you must notify me no less than 2 weeks before to reschedule. If you change your tattoo appointment last minute and I’m unable to fill your position you will not be refunded your deposit. I am scheduled months out, and with short notice I’m often unable to shift people around causing me to waste a work day. If there is an emergency, please just let me know and we can work something out.
